The Morro Bay Community Development Department is composed of three divisions whose purpose is to ensure development within the city complies with state, federal, and local laws and whose goal is to improve the built environment and quality of life for current and future residents, businesses and visitors. The three divisions of Community Development include Planning, Building and Code Enforcement.
The Planning Division is responsible for long and short-range planning and implementation, development review and permitting, environmental review, economic development, processing of annexations, and grant applications and administration.
The Building Division ensures the health and welfare of the residents of Morro Bay through code enforcement and by regulating the construction, use, and occupancy of buildings and other alterations through the application of building codes.
The City of Morro Bay's Community Enhancement Program ensures nuisances and other code violations related to public health and safety are remedied efficiently and professionally.
