[ARCHIVED] Bird Nesting Season Reminder


Bird nesting season is here. What does that mean? Every year from February 1 through June 30, private property tree removals are prohibited.  The City’s adopted Major Vegetation Guidelines only allow for tree removal on private property in cases of emergency during this timeframe. If a homeowner wishes to remove a tree that cannot wait until after June 30th, then a report is required to be submitted by a certified arborist that documents the hazard and reason for removal. City guidelines establish when a permit and replacement of vegetation is required.  Emergency tree removals are reviewed and evaluated by staff to determine if removal can be authorized under the guidelines.  Tree trimming is allowed unless nesting birds are present.
